Television Now

 Television doesn't have as big of an impact as it did once before. TV was once the only thing people would look forward to to catch their weekly shows. 

Television first started off as the Nipkow Disc in 1884. This was rotating scanning disc that produced 4,000 pixels per second. Even though it was a big advance in the technology it was proved to be very limited.

Shortly after in 1923 Vladimir Zworykin created the iconoscope tube which essentially was a television tube. Then in 1929 Zworykin then created the kinescope which is just an improved television tube. As the years went on more upgrades were made to the physical TV to constantly improve it.

In the 1950s Lucille Ball took her and her hit show I love Lucy to Hollywood, California. Lucy's choice of going to Hollywood essentially moved the entire television industry from New York to California.

John Walson essentially created cable when he ran a coaxial cable from a tower in his hometown to customers who had purchased his sets. Walson eventually acquired over 700 subscribers to his business creating cable television.

Television Now

The television industry was once pay for TV networks such as DirecTV and Verizon Fios and the customer would pay a monthly fee at different prices depending on the package deal they want.

Nowadays more and more people are dropping the subscriptions to the old TV providers to the new streaming services. Netflix, Hulu, HBO Max, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, etc. These streaming services are offering customers tons of their favorite TV shows and movies for a monthly price. 

Top streaming services

The old TV providers are keeping up with the times however, they are offering bundles with their original TV packages. For example Verizon Fios offers a bundle that gives you HBO Max and ESPN with your subscription along with TV and its allotted channels.
